Don't assume the streets in Korea are always safe at night

The Korean night streets, are they really 100% safe? We've captured the realistic nightlife safety guide that overseas YouTubers often miss, from a lo

As a native Korean, I'd like to offer a slightly different take on the perception that Korean nightlife streets are safe overseas.

I'm a Korean person living in Korea.

That's because things like dawn delivery are routine here, and there are tons of shops open 24 hours a day. So, people moving around in the early morning is a common sight.

However, the perception—especially among international YouTubers, particularly female ones—that it's absolutely safe to walk around late at night or in the early morning is a bit exaggerated.

Of course, it's true that Korean streets are safer than in many other cities, but thinking every single place is completely safe can be a little risky.

When you watch those YouTubers' videos, you mostly see brightly lit, crowded main streets. Those areas are indeed safe. However, you still need to be careful in unfamiliar, dark roads or back alleys.

Sure, most roads and alleys are safe, but you should still be cautious because there can occasionally be people approaching with bad intentions.

The reason I, as a Korean, am writing this is because the portrayal of Korean streets being safe at night on YouTube felt overly emphasized to me.

It's just natural that where there are good people, there will also be bad people in any country. If you have arrived in Korea, I hope you've gained a little bit of caution.

Then, I truly hope you have a wonderful journey while traveling in Korea.
